Miracles are not meant to be extraordinary events. Jesus gave us His Holy Spirit so that we can do what He did. “If you believe in Me, you will do the same works I do, and even greater” (John 14:12).

- What does “Yes” to the Holy Spirit look like?
“Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the Evil One.” (Matthew 5:37) For our series on Miracles and the Holy Spirit, here’s what members of Good News Ministries have reported is happening in their countries and parishes. We also want to hear your stories.
- Delia Alvarez’s story of healing in her family
“To say I am in awe of the Holy Spirit’s inspiration in my life is an understatement! It is so much more. The new, healed and continued healing relationship with family members is a testimony of what God can do when we listen and pray for change. I heard or sensed the promptings of the Holy Spirit.”
- Carolyn Liff’s Testimony of Joy with Jesus
Carolyn Liff shares how she grew closer to Jesus after the COVID-19 pandemic locked down her church and she could no longer receive Jesus in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. “I couldn’t believe that the Catholic Church was closing its doors. I just left Mass that day feeling such a sense of sadness and emptiness and almost grieving a loss.”
- Merle Pereira’s Miracle at Work
Hear God’s miraculous and compassionate intervention at work when Merle Pereira lost her job and was unjustly denied money due her. “I would like to testify that the Lord is always faithful and answers me whenever I call on Him. I have always experienced Him as a very present help in times of trouble. There are a number of miracles He has worked in my life, but I would like to state just one of them.”
- Carolyne Oyoo’s Testimony of Faith During the Pandemic
Hear what happened to Carolyne Oyoo during the pandemic. “When the pandemic started, I thought God was going to finish the world. So every day I wake up, I just appreciate God for that particular day because when I know the whole world is nothing to him, I wake up every morning, repent, ask for forgiveness from God on behalf of all humanity. I know indeed we have even done graver things than Sodom and Gomorrah. We have just to seek the face of God.”
- Donna Obringer’s Testimony of God’s protection
“My parents live in Palm Coast. That is where the fires were in 1998 that destroyed a large part of Florida. My parents’ neighborhood was devastated by the Flagler Beach fires. I prayed all that weekend for God’s mercy and protection on their home. The fire took the woods in the front of the home and some in the back.”
You can experience Holy Spirit power too!
- Who is the Holy Spirit?
What are the gifts of the Spirit? What are the fruits of life in the Spirit? After Jesus ascended to heaven, the Holy Spirit came down to be incarnated, so to speak, in all believers — not just the Apostles and not just for special occasions. God’s Spirit has been living with us and dwelling within us ever since.
- Now is the time to supercharge your faith!
Have you been feeling frustrated because the Church doesn’t look much different than the rest of the world in dealing with crises? Are you ready to supercharge your faith so that you can look and be different than the world? Doing great things for God, with Jesus, and in the power of the Holy Spirit is precisely the plan of God. Jesus made that very clear in John 14:12 and many other times. Learn to recognize the Holy Spirit supercharging your faith through the Catholic Mass.
- Coronavirus, Chastisement and Cure
Is the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) a chastisement from God? Can praying the Rosary help stop it? What does the Holy Spirit want to do through us for a cure? In Matthew 16:3, Jesus chastised the wicked because they knew how to read the signs of the weather but not the signs of the times (the signs of salvation that Jesus made evident everywhere he went). Today, we need to make sure that we are paying attention to the signs of the times — and heeding their warnings.
- Faith-building miracles of the Holy Spirit
Miracles are not meant to be extraordinary events. To evangelize non-believers in today’s world, with its escalating relativism and immorality, we have to rely heavily on the Holy Spirit. It is only the Holy Spirit who can change hearts and minds. But how do we get people to pay attention to the Holy Spirit?
- Defeating Satan’s Biggest Strategy (video podcast)
Satan’s biggest strategy in today’s world is the disempowering of Christians so that we cannot successfully evangelize non-believers and doubters. In John 14:6-14, Jesus tells us the key to defeating this strategy. We must proclaim the truth about Jesus. However, this is only the first step! People do not become believers in Christ because we tell them that he is the only way to reach heaven. People become believers because they discover that (1) he is real, and (2) he cares about them, and (3) he is more powerful than all the evil they have been suffering. It is hard for non-Christians to believe in Christ when they have not witnessed miracles.
- The 4-second prayer that defeats Satan
Why are we not living a miraculous faith? Satan is doing everything he can to disempower the Church, because we are a huge threat to him. Satan doesn’t want us to fully grasp the truth about what we can receive from God, because with it we can change the world. So here’s a 4-second prayer to defeat Satan. It works immediately!
- How to move mountains and work other miracles
Jesus intends for us to move mountains. Jesus wants every Christian to be his presence here on earth, doing what he did and more (John 14:12). He gave us his Holy Spirit so that we could do it. The New Testament is full of reports about miracles done through faith-filled followers. So why are we so powerless today? We have faith, right? Is it at least the size of a mustard seed?
- “Be not afraid” to speak the truth
Are we supposed to stay silent about the truths of the Catholic Faith when we’re with those who have fallen prey to worldly thinking and the false teachings of Satan? They don’t want to hear the truth. They want us to believe that we should not speak the truth because it would hurt their feelings and make them mad, perhaps even violent.
- Commissioned by the Holy Spirit to change the world
One sure fact about having a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit is that we experience it most fully within the community life of Spirit-filled prayer meetings. Prayer meetings are not just about signs and wonders and other miraculous manifestations of the Holy Spirit such as prophetic messages and visions. They are launching pads for involvement in the parish community and going out into the world in the power of God to bring more people to conversion and deeper faith.
- Moving on Currents of Grace
Saint Paul wrote, “Where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more” (Romans 5:20). What does this tell us about God’s reaction to the increase of sin that’s happening all around us? Evil has infiltrated more deeply than we imagined a decade ago. Even good people have been corrupted by the satanic agenda of embracing immorality as good and the belief that good is evil. Hatred is spewed at Christians. Violence is easily triggered. Therefore, we can expect miracles of grace.

The Good News Cross of St. Benedict:
The icon for this Holy Spirit section of WordBytes is taken from the Good News Cross, which was made in a collaboration between Good News Ministries and the Cross of St. Benedict Society to offer protection for your home and family.
This unique crucifix is shaped like a simple monstrance, the cross pieces representing rays of the Light of Christ. The St. Benedict medal is positioned where the Host is held in the monstrance, representing Jesus conquering the devil through the medal, just like he does through the Host.
Above the medal is hand-carved dove, representing the Holy Spirit, to remind us of our call to embrace the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our life’s vocation. The Holy Spirit is descending on those who possess the Good News Cross. With the corpus of Christ below it, together they remind us that we need a personal relationship with Christ, who conquers personal sin and death, and a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit, who sends us out to conquer sin and death in the world.
