“You, God, are my God. I believe in you, yet you seem so far away. I believe you love me, but I don’t feel your closeness. I’m earnestly seeking you. I thirst for you! My whole being longs for you. But I feel like I’m in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” (A prayer based on Psalm 63:1)
The thirst of the soul is a very important experience. At times like this, the Holy Spirit of Christ is with us, and indeed is filling us, pouring his life-giving grace into us.
And here is what he wants us to know:
Faith is not a feeling, it’s a gift. You have received this gift. Faith is how I am keeping your soul alive in Me. Your faith is deepening while you continue to depend on head-knowledge of My nearness in the absence of heart-felt awareness. At the end of this shortcut through the desert (and this IS a shortcut on the journey of holiness), you will realize many blessings. You will be stronger and more able to make a significant difference in sharing My presence with those who thirst for Me but don’t even know it yet.
