“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10 NIV)

As the year draws to a close, we often reflect on what was good and what was bad. We have hopes and dreams for the soon to be new year, but can be haunted by past failings and fears.

But Jesus tells us to “Not be afraid”! In fact, that comforting message occurs hundreds of times throughout scripture.

When fear screams for attention, it’s pulling your attention away from the calm, steady, supportive hand of God. It might make sense to listen to what fear is telling you, but it’s lying to you. Do not be afraid of what you can only see partially. There’s always more to the situation than what you can see right now.

Faith needs your voice. Faith needs you to speak up for the truth and put fear down. When that happens, the power that fear has had over you begins to fade. Often it even disappears!

None of us can do this without the help of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Truth strengthens us to live in victory over everything that has made us afraid. Increase your time with the Holy Spirit.
