Our failure to get through a day without sinning is only regrettable if we refuse to use it for our purification. Sin that leads to repentance and making amends is an evil turned into a blessing.
Similarly, other types of failures have hidden blessings, too. The failure to follow through on a promise will become, through Christ, a recommitment that strengthens our resolve. The failure to reach a goal becomes a reanalysis of priorities when we ask the Holy Spirit to give us greater understanding. The failure to remember a friend’s birthday can become a new opportunity to spend an afternoon together.
What failure are you ashamed of? Pray about it. Listen for the Holy Spirit’s wisdom on how to turn it into a blessing.
