Who is the real you? God designed us for greatness. Each one of us! Our individually unique combination of genes, which we inherited from our human parents, and talents, which we inherited from our Divine Father, make each of us special. We are like no other person who ever lived or ever will live.
Jesus, too, was incarnated into a combination of human genes and divine nature. He is our example of what it means to be the real you — fully human in accordance with God’s divine design.
When Christ is the true center of our being, because we choose to unite ourselves to him through the Holy Eucharist and other sacraments, we become who we truly are. We live the redeemed life of our Christian inheritance.
Unfortunately, we live under the illusion that we are far less than we really are – less good, less capable, less empowered. Every day should start with the prayer: “Lord Jesus, help me to get rid of the limitations of an unredeemed life. Help me live out the truth of who I really am: a child of the Most High God, empowered by your Holy Spirit to become more and more like you.”
