It doesn’t take much to make us feel unhappy, down, and dissatisfied. Even when we start out feeling good about the new morning, aware of God’s loving nearness, a little exposure to someone else’s unhappy mood can ensnare us in the spirit of depression. Or a little bit of bad news. Or a little task that turns out differently than expected.
Jesus has a cure for this malaise. He says:
Turn back to Me. Stop what you’re doing and pay attention to my hand that’s on your shoulder. Close your eyes and envision my face.
My eyes are gently looking into the depths of your beautiful soul; yes, beautiful! Because I see your goodness!
My smile is welcoming your heart into my heart. I am glad to be with you. Feel my joy. I am your source of joy; nothing else can succeed at this. I am with you. I care about you. Let’s go dancing!
