The magnificence of this Greek Orthodox altar with its many icons reminded us to honor Jesus's crucifixion with great awe and reverence. This Chapel of Golgotha shows Jesus hanging on the cross (behind the votive oil lamps and candle chandelier) with His mother to His right and best friend John on His left.

Beneath the icon of the crucified Jesus is an altar. Under the altar (see the lady getting up off her knees) is the Rock of Calvary, into which Jesus' cross was set.
