The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant. (Matt. 21:14-15)

To get a better perspective of the importance of this temple, let's travel back through time more than 1,100 years, to one of Jesus' most important ancestors, King David. At that time, there was no temple, Jerusalem was called Jebus, it was small, and it was not an Israelite town.

The king and his men marched to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived there. The Jebusites said to David, "You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off." They thought, "David cannot get in here." Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion, the City of David. (2 Samuel 5:6-7)

O my God, there are people who think I cannot do what You have asked me to do. Help me to listen to You instead of to them. Amen!
